What is your favourite Christmas treat? Is it that shortbread you snitched from cookie tins hidden in the freezer or that pan of buttery almond roca that you “evened out the edges on” until it was gone?
Chances are your favourite Christmas sweet has a story baked right in. Bring that splattered recipe card, thumbed-through cookbook, faded family photo as inspiration for writing. During the writeshop I provide suggestions to create a gift of story along with tips and tools to tell it in a meaningful way. A special gift for family or friends.
No writing (or baking) experience required. Just life experience!

A Gift of Story – Christmas Recipe Edition was held at The Cookbook Co. Cooks in Calgary. Thanks to the owners for providing a cozy space for meeting and writing in their downstairs kitchen. Writers brought splattered recipe cards, vintage cookbooks, faded photographs, and wrote about a Christmas memory
A perfect evening of mulled wine and words.
About our Writeshop Hosts
The culinary whizzes at The Cookbook Co. Cooks let this writer take over the kitchen! This is something I’ve wanted to do ever since co-owner and friend Kathy Andrews toured me through the store back in 1997. The downstairs kitchen was a perfect place to write with a group. Thanks for letting me hang out!
