Like many musicians all over the world, working life has not been easy and close to non-existent however, I’ve been counting my silver linings and feel hugely fortunate that I’ve been able to use this time to explore and develop my creativity.
Since March, I’ve been producing weekly videos of my playing for my social media pages but more importantly, I’ve been able to invest my time in creative ideas – exploring an exciting collaboration with my clarsach trio and a ballet dancer, beginning a new journey with harp and flute duo TAIKA and most excitingly, preparing to record an album of my programme, Notes to Shetland to Shanghai, which I worked on during my residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
Lockdown has been difficult but it has also been a time of reflection, a time to find out what is most important to me and I am constantly thankful I always have a harp by my side.
